Chapter 14 – Inspection and Test of Flex Circuits
By Joseph Fjelstad and Paul Reid

Testing and inspection are key steps in the manufacturing process because they provide feedback on manufacturing operations, prevent the escape of defective parts into the assembly process and assure a higher probability of long life in the end-use environment. Chapter 14 details the types of inspection and testing for flexible circuits and their purposes. Raw material testing information includes physical, chemical, electrical and environmental testing. Testing and inspection of the end product includes visual inspection; dimensional measurement accuracy; physical testing; construction integrity; pre- and post-stress evaluation; and electrical, environmental, cleaning and solderability requirements.
