Chapter 9 – Flex Circuit Manufacturing Processes
By Joseph Fjelstad

Chapter 9 provides basic information on flex circuit fabrication that will aid in understanding the complexity of the processes involved in flex circuit construction. A common understanding of the fabrication process will help designers and manufacturers alike, since designs created with an appreciation of the manufacturing processes used will result in a better end product.
Manufacturing processes covered include: additive and semi-additive, imaging and etching, one and two-conductor layer flex, multilayer flex and rigid flex. The chapter also offers discussions of circuit finishes and various singulation methods.
